Belfast York Road
A small fleet of just three locomotives these 1969 built English Electric shunting locomotives were the final shunters in use in Ireland, classified on NIR (Northern Ireland Railways) as 1 Class.
Here No. 3 is seen stored at Belfast York Road, behind it is 'C' Class No. 218.
The creation of a small fleet of six locomotives by NIR, to be designated 104 Class, used Irish Rail 'C' Class which were being phased out on IR. No. 218 was a replacement to No. 224 which had been rejected by NIR due to twisted frames. No. 218 / 224 was to be designated No. 105 under the scheme but this never materialised.
