The final scheduled loco-hauled passenger service out of Kings Cross to Hull falls upon 47432 seen here at Kings Cross, the service being 1D01 10:33 Kings Cross - Hull, returning as 1A20 15:05 Hull - Kings Cross.

Brora

With the single line section to Rogart occupied 37418 An Comunn Gaidhealach stands at Brora whilst working 2H62 12:00 Wick - Inverness. The train would pass 37419 on 2H63 11:35 Inverness - Wick / Thurso here at Brora before continuing southwards. In 1987 the line between Dingwall and Wick was served by only three trains per day each way Monday to Saturday, with two on a Sunday. Thirty years later in 2017 and an improved service during the week with four trains per day, but reduced to only one on a Sunday.

Eastleigh

A couple of strangers in town! Having made its way to the Midlands, and then dumped at Birmingham's Saltley depot, 73106 was finally returned south by 20071 and 20041 (TBC) seen here at Eastleigh.

Poole

British Rail Eastern Region operated 'Wessex Deltic' railtour bringing the one and only occasion of a Class 55 'Deltic' to Dorset whilst in British Rail service. Having run as 1Z47 09:15 Finsbury Park - Bournemouth, the train would continue on to Poole as an empty stock working. Here 55015 Tulyar propels the stock into the sidings at Poole prior to running-round, and then heading back empties to Bournemouth. The railtour would then continuing on to Portsmouth via Eastleigh, before returning back to Finsbury Park via the 'Pompey Direct.
