TABLE 158 PHOTOGRAPHY
For railway photography around Dorset, the surrounding counties, and beyond.
"I have to admit that the technical side of photography has never really 'bitten' me ... For me, one of the greatest pleasures of railway photography has been when I have discovered some enchanting new location and then set about trying to get the most attractive picture of the scene." Ivo Peters

Without a doubt what will become the most photographed South Western Railway Class 455 is 455868 seen here passing through Bournemouth station on its maiden trip leading classmate 455909, and running as 5Y51 14:32 Bournemouth T&RSMD - Wimbledon Park C.S.D. Built at BREL York and introduced by British Rail from 1982 onwards, the type is now approaching the end of its working life on the South Western network out of London Waterloo, and to celebrate South Western Railway have painted 455868 in its original British Rail blue & grey livery, albeit with some modern and compliant touches. The stunning looking unit was repainted at Bournemouth depot, which has been progressively repainting the entire fleet of Class 444 and 450 units and with a finish as good as this perhaps they should expand their field of operations?
